Born Yemi Eberechi Alade, is one of Nigeria’s most talented feminine personalities in the country’s music scene. Conveying in her music intriguing lyrics and deep themes that resonate with audience, she has earned herself an increasing count of proponents.

Yemi Alade, preferably called as a musician, is a Nigerian Afropop singer, songwriter, an actress as well as an activist. Her music incorporates Afro; Highlife, Dancehall, R&B which has sent her music across the boarders of her country and taking into consideration, the continent’s music as a whole thereby earning her the title, Mama Africa. She is showcasing the fact that she is a multilingual. All these depict her growth and versatility as an artiste. She sings in Igbo, English, Pidgin, Yoruba, French, Swahili and Portuguese.

Early Life and Musical Bloom

Yemi Alade was born on 13, March, 1989, in Abia State in Nigeria. Yemi was raised in a multi ethnic home in Nigeria. She was born to Mr. James Alade, a commissioner of police from Ondo State, and her mum, Helen Uzoma, a native of Abia state.

The hitmaker of Johnny attended Victory Grammar School, Ikeja in Lagos as well as the University of Lagos for her tertiary education.

During her days in the University, she participated in a talent show, Peak Talent Show, in which she merged winner. Her participation in that show gained her popularity and granted her the opportunity to be signed to Effyzzie Music Group.


After the concession of with contract with Effyzzie Music Group , she later released Johnny, King of Queens, , Mama Africa, Conexion Total Among other releases.

Yemi Alade showcases her versatility in the music world by collaborating with artists from different musical genres and different races from all walks of life. This has given her greater fan base from different countries adoration her personality

She is currently signed to Effyzie Music Group, Rebel Movement, and Universal Music Africa.
